C-Section Recovery- minimize scar tissue

Castor oil is a plant-based oil from Ricinus Communis that has been used for centuries for its healing properties. One such use is its help in breaking down scar tissue. Thus, it can be very helpful after a surgery, like a C-section. It penetrates deep into the body and breaks up adhesions. It also is helpful for digestive complaints, gall bladder issues, endometriosis, and lymphatic drainage. It can reduce inflammation, increase circulation and thus, speed healing.

Edgar Cayce popularized Castor Oil’s use. More info and instructional video HERE

How to Do a Castor Oil Pack

You’ll Need

·      high-quality castor oil

·     wool or cotton flannel– you can tear up an old flannel sheet, etc

· nonstick type plastic wrap/cling wrap, or cut open a gallon size zip lock

·     hot water bottle or heating pad. I like the UTK Infrared heating pads but they are expensive. You can buy a plug-in one from the drug store for about $20.

·     Quart size glass jar or bowl

NOTE: This can be messy, so put an old towel under your body in case the castor oil runs off your body

How to Use a Castor Oil Pack

1.    Soak your flannel/wool/cloth in castor oil (I pour it on cloth over a bowl and soak it up). Make sure the cloth is big enough so you can fold it a few layers thick to put over the area you want to be covered.

2.   Wring out excess oil off cloth so it doesn’t drip

3.    Cut a piece of cling wrap or ziplock bag to cover the whole cloth and some of your skin around it

4. Place the cloth over area you want to treat

5.    Place plastic over the oil soaked cloth

6. Cover the plastic with the heating pad.

RELAX for 30 mins to 90 minutes.

You can store the cloth in a glass jar or ziplock in the fridge and use it again. Discard plastic wrap. Wipe up.
