Why I Recommend Melatonin

If vitality is your focus, you will notice when there are times in your life when vitality diminishes. Our hormones are one major physiological factor in how vital we feel, and we know that with age these hormones naturally diminish.

Melatonin is the body’s sleep hormone. It is made in the pineal gland and helps us sleep. Melatonin does more than this though. Melatonin’s antioxidant properties have been linked to neuroprotective effects, which could be beneficial in slowing age-related cognitive decline and reducing the risk of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. Studies suggest that melatonin may help prevent the buildup of amyloid plaques in the brain, a hallmark of Alzheimer’s, while protecting brain cells from oxidative stress and inflammation. It also can help prevent diabetes. It is a ‘hormone harmonizer’ and helps balance other hormones. It also aids in the immune system and helps keep us from getting sick.

So if your melatonin naturally decreases with age, why suffer with poor sleep when you can replace melatonin naturally with an over-the-counter supplement? Some people do not tolerate it well, and for some people it is not effective. But if you are having poor sleep and have not tried melatonin, it may be a great solution for you to take at lower doses (1-6 mg a night).

My favorite brand is Source Naturals and it comes in this spray. I personally use one to two sprays in my mouth before brushing my teeth. I also keep a bottle on my nightstand in case I wake at 2-3am and need help getting back to sleep. I can use a single spray up until about 3am without being drowsy upon waking.

Melatonin is widely sold, but the brand and quality matter. You can purchase this at our online store at www.huntvitality.com/shop.
